Are you planning to build a detached house with at least 3 bedrooms? The floor area of your house will probably allow you to have create a double living room but have you thought about creating an extra bedroom instead? How do you choose between these two options? Polimmo la Maison explains.
The advantages of a double stay
A double living room is defined as a living area of more than 30 m2. It acts as a living room, but it can also be used as a dining room, an open-plan kitchen, an office area, etc. To separate the different functions of the double living room, you can create dividers by installing bookcases, screens or other elements, or even raise one of the areas to delimit the zones and give them a different decorative style.
It is also possible to leave the room as it is, so that you can make the most of all the light and space, with a homogenous decorating style.
Because of its large surface area, a double living room becomes the main room of the house, where the whole family can get together while going about their own business: reading in the living room for one, homework on the dining table for another, preparing a meal for the third... It's the heart of the house.
Why opt for a extra bedroom ?
The vast surface area of the ground floor can be used to create a double living room, but you can also opt to divide it up to create an extra bedroom. Admittedly, your living area will be smaller, but creating an extra bedroom, particularly on the ground floor, has a number of advantages. You'll have a room where you can entertain friends or family in comfort. You can also create an office, a TV room or a games room.
Another advantage is that its location on the ground floor means that people with reduced mobility don't have to climb the stairs to go to bed.
